The Wheel of Time

I was tasked with constucting and animating this logo reveal for Amazon's fantasy series The Wheel of Time. It was also used as the Main Title for their trailers, tv spots, and print campaign.

I built a highly-detailed 3D snake and animated a camera to fly through it as it coils to form the main title.

The shape drawn in light at the beginning is a subtle reference to the icon of the Aes Sedai, an order of magic-users from the mythology of the show.

The whole animation was built as a giant square and with the text in a separate 3D scene so that it could be easily be converted to a variety of different languages and aspect ratios. Renders as large as 20K pixels in width were done for the print campaign.

The snake was attached to a spiral-shaped helix to drive its animation as it coils. A separate helix that moves in tandum with the first drives the camera, to better control a smooth camera move.
