I designed and animated the opening title sequence for Netflix's Trese, one of the first Filipino anime, based on a popular comic book of the same name.
Inspired by the grungy, sketch-like look of the original comic, I made the sequence a similarly-expressive collage. Taking footage from the show and imagery from the comic, I overlayed them on top of each other like an organic and freeform collage.
I scanned in pencils scratches I made on paper overtop the footage to give the piece an organic, tactile feel--similar to the expressive look of the original comic.
Trese is a Filipino word for the number 13, so I drew the roman numeral XIII by the Main Title.
I built a 3D model of the main character's dagger in order to have more freedom to position and animate it.
